Originally from Haiti, raised in New York and now living in New Orleans, this violinist-singer has all it takes to seduce the audience with her blend of creole-folk. On A Day for the Hunter, A Day for the Prey, she pushes her classical training even farther to create a very interesting ‘’multi-cultural jazz’’ experience, sung in English, French and Haitian Creole. Leyla McCalla, a young artist with multiple identities, is expected to be one of the unique discoveries of this 50^th edition of the Festival.
