Wiz Khalifa’s popularity soared after influential Billboard magazine named him best new artist of 2012. The release of “O.N.I.F.C.” in December sped things up: the single “Let It Go,” produced with rapper Akon, generated more than seven million views on YouTube just three weeks after its release.
