Before reaching superstardom around the world, Femi Kuti spent years playing in his father’s band (Fela) but did not simply want to be known as the Afro-beat legend’s son. After years of hard work and touring, his melodic and rhythmic influences are now more global than ever, taking in Latin, Caribbean, and several other African-American influences along the way. His latest "Africa for Africa" shows him stronger and funkyer than he’s ever had the chance to be.
