Diane Tell wanted to make a jazz record, and she wanted to sing in French. Using previously unrecorded material by Boris Vian, and with expert piano accompaniment and arrangements by Laurent de Wilde, the project has come to life: Popular jazz standards, which have been «destandardized» by the great Boris Vian, are tastefully performed, featuring the suave and nuanced voice of Québec City-born singer/songwriter/photographer Diane Tell. For Diane, this album marks a return to her first love, a move that was masterfully executed, and which has left critics with a smile and a swinging melody on their lips. Diane Tell will be stopping by Québec City on October 27, 2011 to perform her all-French repertoire, featuring selections from her work with Vian as well as her first big hits. A must-see performance!
