Since the release of his album Le dernier empereur bantou, Pierre Kwenders is being touted as a true meeting point between Africa and North America. Tinted with Congolese rumba and afro-electro, his festive music is inspired by current trends and avant-garde bands like Buraka Som Sistema. He even surrounds himself with collaborators such as Jacobus (Radio Radio), Poirier, and The Posterz, to create a world at the cross-roads of several languages and cultures. Radio-Canada’s World Music Revelation in 2014-2015, Kwender’s blend bounds way out of the box.
