In 2007, Alex Ebert dreamed up the character of Edward Sharpe, a sort of spiritual guide devoted to healing and happiness. Little by little the idea materialized as a rock band channeling the energy of Laurel Canyon from the sixties and the hippy spirit of the flower power generation. Yes, the message is full of joy and love and the band’s psychedelic pop-soul is often enhanced with choral arrangements, which, on stage, transform the experience into a total celebration.
