Akhenaton. Kheops. Shurik’n. Imhotep. Kephren. Five legendary rappers who, since Hexagone, have marked the history of world rap under the affirmative name IAM. First because IAM was one of the original French rap bands. Then because their classics Ombre et lumières and L’École du micro d’argent transcended genres and geographical and linguistic boundaries. Despite various solo adventures and rumours of a breakup, the Marseille band returns, maybe for the last time, to commune with their fans and confirm their relevance after over 25 years in the spotlight.
