The BKO Quintet is the meeting between five accomplished musicians and the Mali cultures of donso and djéli. This union resulted in Bamako Today, their first album, released in 2015. Bamako Today is a voyage to the heart of contemporary Mali, between traditions and innovation. Combining, drums, strings and powerful songs, this band’s music brilliantly alternates between frantic rhythms and more meditative passages, creating a fascinating sound epic.
