On one side there’s kuduro, a musical style with Angolan roots, blending traditional sounds with house rhythms and techno, and on the other side there’s percussive rock with strong guitars. Bring them together and you get rockuduro, the signature sound of Throes + The Shine, a band formed in 2011. With their latest studio album, their music has calmed down somewhat, but their desire to crank up the party just as strong. Wanga (2016) is not as heavy as Rockuduro (2012), but it has the same contagious frenzy that’s sure to get festival-goers moving.
