From his contribution to the pulsing rhythms of afrobeat side by side with the legendary Fela Kuti, to his more recent collaborations with Damon Albarn in Gorillaz and The Good, the Bad & the Queen, Nigerian drummer Tony Allen returns to the source of his inspiration with a tribute to one of his first idols: American Art Blakey (inventor of modern super-energetic be-bop). An essentially jazz program, featuring a custom-made quartet for the show with Jowee Omicil, collaborator of Kenny Garrett, Marcus Miller and Roy Hargrove. Brilliantly revisited melodies and repertoire.
