In his early twenties, Émile Bilodeau’s performances are already showing a fine maturity. His very first album, Rites De Passage, released in the fall of 2016, sails on folk waters and relies on down-to-earth lyrics, which are at times socially committed and tinged with irony, somewhat like Dédé Fortin, one of this singer-songwriter’s influences. The young man who wrote his first song at the age of 16, entered contests and won prizes, including at the Francouvertes, comes to the Festival to share his unique world, a sweet combination of humour and sensitivity.
