Often compared to Elliott Smith and Sufjan Stevens, with The Party this outstanding Canadian melodist has created an absolutely exquisite orchestral folk album. Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, it’s no surprise that Shauf is on the short list for the 2016 Polaris Prize. With his rich arrangements and pop sensibility, this Canadian composer reveals a world of nonchalant melancholy. A discovery comparable to American singer-songwriter Father John Misty.
