While travelling through the United States as a young man and then settling in Ireland, Foy Vance eventually developed a musical style approaching the great tradition of singer-songwriters like Tom Waits and Billy Joel. The release of the album Joy of Nothing (in 2013) took him on the road with artists like Bonnie Raitt and Ed Sheeran, where he was discovered by a wider audience. Two years later, none other than Elton John supported him in his career, inviting him to be part of his great British tour.
