Born in 1955 in Como, Mississippi, R.L. Boyce was raised in the great tradition of blues and American gospel. Inspired by neighbours Fred McDowell and RL Burnside, he comes from the great folk music tradition with a very personal style, akin to the visceral authenticity of John Lee Hooker. A model to follow for emotions and vocal spontaneity.
