Still as current on the aptly named Résistance, the four Malian musicians stand out for their engagement and passion. With the help of English rapper Elf Kid and Iggy Pop in the studio, notably on the title Sahara, the Songhai rock by singer Aliou Toure and his pals is essentially political, denouncing schemes of power and betrayed promises. Songhoy Blues offers another vision of Malian music, featuring explosive guitars.
