Gnawa Diffusion is based in France but plays a blend of traditional North African music, rap and reggae, and sing in French, Arab, Tamazight (a Berber language) and English. This has been the secret to their success worldwide for the past twenty years.
Their socially committed and ironic lyrics explore themes of exile, memory, ethnocentrism, identity, religion and globalization. But that doesn't make Gnawa Diffusion's music dark. Led by their charismatic singer, Amazigh Kateb, they always put on a lively, upbeat show!
