She has sung with James Brown, Otis Redding, Ben E. King and Cab Calloway, as well as at President Obama's inauguration show, on the Tonight Show and Austin CIty Limits. Her many prizes include the Rhythm and Blues Foundation's 2006 Pioneer Award.
Over the course of a career that has spanned six decades, Bettye LaVette has built a legend around her distinctive voice, which she has adapted with brio to soul, blues, rock, funk, gospel and country. Today, at the age of 65, she is still active on the concert circuit and thrills crowds wherever she sings.
