Rael da Rima has been involved in the Brazilian music scene for the past ten years. However, his musical history began long before since he is the son of a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and choir singer. From performing at talent shows in school, to participating in maracatu drum sessions in the streets of his neighbourhood, Rael wrote his first song at 16. Later, he learned to play guitar, giving way to his particular sound. Linking up with his childhood friends, he created Pentagono in 2000, a Hip Hop group that has had much success, rocking large crowds across Brazil and Europe. Now embarking on a solo mission, Rael with his unique blend of Brazilian Reggae-Hip-Hop-Soul has started to get some serious attention around his new project. In 2009, he was invited to take part in an exchange in Montreal, where he regularly performed and recorded music with the group Nomadic Massive and reggae outfit Inword. Rael launched his first reggae-hip-hop single Trabalhador in 2009 leading up to the release of his first album MP3, Musica popular do tercer mundo, which translates into Popular Music from the Third World in June of 2010.
