In the late 90s, when most pop-punk bands were singing about last night's bash, the Alkaline Trio was more interested in expressing emotions or denouncing social injustices. This considered approach has helped build them a solid base of loyal fans.
The Chicago-based Alkaline Trio is perched somewhere midway up the American punk/hardcore family tree, being closely related to bands such as 88 Fingers Louie, Tuesday, Smoking Popes, Slapstick or Rise Against.
