She honed her skills performing in the circus and the theatre, and her first band, Mimosa, was also named Best New Artist of the Year at the 2007 Francouvertes. But if most people discovered Ines Talbi with the release of her debut album, Boarding Gate, last February, the Montreal artist of North African origins is no newcomer.
Ines Talbi wrote her album in Switzerland, after a trip to Scandinavia and around Europe. Her deliciously harsh voice lends itself to the kind of groovy pop music that grabs your head and your heart. If you like Ariane Moffatt and Émilie Simon, Ines Talbi is definitely one to watch.
