Dominique Fricot est un artiste de Vancouver qui possède l’habileté de transporter son audience à travers ses chansons, avec paroles sincères et mélodies sentimentales. Du haut de ses 6 pieds et 7 pouces, Fricot est au commande de la scène avec sa voix riche de baryton et sa fusion très personnelle de rock, soul, folk et jazz. Ciseaux is the most recent endeavor of Victoria, BC artist, Katie Schaan. Melodies swam around her head and danced out her rosebud lips before she was old enough to even know words to speak. That tiny girl lived three years of life before hitting the stage with a tiny cello, and there was no stopping her from music making after that. Ciseaux is inspired by everything from Bach’s Brandenburg concertos, to soulful melodies of the 60’s, to the imaginative indie persuasions of her peers. This is a project evolved from classical training, a love of pop music and an unwillingness to be limited by genre.

Talk about starting with a bang. Adaline achieves near Judy Garland levels of melodrama on “That’s What You Do Best”, the stately electro-torch song that opens her new album, Modern Romantics. Since its release on Light Organ/Universal Records on November 1st, 2011 the album has received strong praise from music critics. The Grid TO calls it “hook-y without being soulless, and patchwork in the most flattering sense. Think of this as pop, unpackaged”. The Uniter states, “A strong sophomore release from a crucial new voice” and CBC Radio 3 deems the album “A visionary classic from one of Vancouver’s best up and coming talents. A breathtaking in-depth journey of the imagination”. Recently, the album also earned a nomination for “Pop Recording of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards which will take place this September 2012 in Regina, SK.
