Location : Le Capitole de Québec
from : Festival de Jazz de Québec

Jacques Kuba Seguin, Radio Canada jazz revelation for 2012-2013, will play the first half of the concert.

Gretchen Parlato belongs to the family of singers/musicians who have taken up the challenge of writing the lyrics for pieces by modern jazz composers, including Wayne Shorter. In 2004, she was awarded first prize at the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocal Competition. The Festival de jazz de Québec made a bright decision when they invited her to perform in Quebec City back in 2006 and 2007. Her album The Lost and Found, co-produced by Robert Glasper in 2011, has further confirmed her tremendous talent. Reviewers ranked the album among the best albums of the year. With young artists such as Aaron Parks, Lionel Loueke and Esperanza Spalding, Parlato contributes to shape todays jazz by brething new life into it. She contributes to Terry Lyne Carrington’s album The Mosaic Project, which won this year’s Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
