François Bourassa is a major icon of Canada’s contemporary jazz scene. Recipient of the 2007 Oscar-Peterson Award at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, he also earned public recognition, here and abroad, due to his creative compositions, inspired and moving. Funky or meditative, François Bourassa’s jazz is also that of his excellent musicians, long-time friends, for whom he composes exclusive arrangements. The complicity which unites them on stage offers a unique concert atmosphere. “What’s amazing is to which extent the musicians understand their leader’s jazz language.” (Le Soleil). Virtuosity, synergy, boldness, and also a good sense of humour, as well as love for the music.
