10:30 PM - $10 $5 off with passTruly a pillar of the Montreal jazz scene, saxophonist, composer and arranger Jean-Pierre Zanella will receive the coveted Oscar Peterson Award at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal this summer for his musicianship and exceptional contribution to the development of Canadian jazz. His contemporary sound, with its acoustic, fusion and bop accents, draws on both the Brazilian tradition and popular music. Also comprised of Marcos Ariel on the piano and Rémi-Jean Leblanc on the contrabass, the Jean-Pierre Zanella Trio will interpret music from their album Diplomatie, recorded by Marcos Ariel and Jean-Pierre Zanella in Brazil, along with a selection of jazz and Brazilian standards for an evening of rhythmic music from Brazil’s finest composers, including Villa Lobos and Carlos Jobim, at the Largo.
