Over the course of his career, Bill Evans recorded with many musicians, with his own bands and as sideman. The Evans sound was, and remains, distinctive in any musical context. He claimed that he wasn't trying to stand out, but just wanted to play his music as honestly and sincerely as possible. As he said, "With jazz, it's not so much what you play as how you play it that counts," and this was the principle behind his music. The stellar quartet dedicated to his repertoire is comprised of Frank Lozano –saxophones, François Bourassa – piano, Michel Donato – double bass, and Pierre Tanguay – drums.
