Here are two exceptional jazz musicians who dedicated their whole career exploring intimacy’s different formats, allowing both introspection and sharing. Be it a solo, a duet, or a trio, in either situation pianist Marc Copland offers a sober, thrifty and concise performance, combining lyricism and formalism. He has recorded several albums the Hat Hut label.
For his part, double bassist Gary Peacock, just like Scott LaFaro, Eddie Gomez or Dave Holland, contributed to the progression of the technique and made the double bass a leading solo instrument. His inventiveness reached summits within the trio of Keith Jarrett. The most recent record realized in duet by Copland and Peacock in 2009, Insight, is a rendition of several standards, where the critics praised the exceptional character of the dialogue established between the two.
